One-Day Seminar On Performance Based Design
Monday, November 16
Performance Based Design (PBD) is a major shift from traditional structural design concepts and represents the future of earthquake engineering. These new procedures help assure that the design will reliably meet a desired level of performance during a given earthquake. The fundamental component of PBD is nonlinear dynamic analysis where an attempt is made to capture the real behavior of the structure by explicitly modeling and evaluating post-yield ductility and energy dissipation when subjected to actual earthquake ground motions.
This one-day seminar is targeted for practicing engineers who have some prior exposure to performance-based seismic design criteria.
The fee for the seminar is 30 TL for everyone, and should be wired to TKIC Bank account (Bank: "İş Bankası", Account Name: "Türkiye Köprü ve İnşaat Cemiyeti"- IBAN : TR960006400000142180002809) before the event day. A donation of 30 TL payable at the registraton desk is also acceptable for attendance in the seminar that will be strictly limited to individuals who have remitted this amount. The registration fee includes beverages during refreshment breaks and course material. If sent by money transfer, full name of the attendee should also be added to invoice as transfer note. Attendees will be handed a Certificate of Attendance. Only attendees who paid the fee early by fund transfer will be given certificate on the event day; for all others, certificates will be sent later. The seminar will be held in the Amphitheater of the Faculty of Architecture, Middle East Technical University:
